Education and Childcare

Public schools in Bulgaria offer instruction in Bulgarian language. Specialised language high schools offer extensive instruction in a foreign language, and there are English, German, Spanish, Italian and other specialised language high schools in Sofia and in other major towns and cities.
Private education is beginning to gain popularity, though there is still no independent assessment to help a parent choose a private school or measure its success. Bulgaria has several private English-language schools besides the international schools that traditionally cater to children from foreign families. For specific fees and details, please have a look at the information in this section. A number of private universities offer degrees as well, but please bear in mind that not all private institutions have the proper accreditation from the Education Ministry.
