MTV to broadcast music fest in Bourgas

MTV and the Black Sea city of Bourgas normally may not be mentioned in one sentence. However, the time for such a combination has arrived.

For three days in August, Bourgas is hosting an outdoor music festival, which MTV will broadcast on nine channels in 36 countries and, supposedly, close to 98 million household will be watching.

Spirit of Bourgas festival will happen on August 15-17, and the venue is the central city beach. Organised along the lines of other European open-air events, it will be multi-genre fest meant to satisfy various tastes.

On the specially prepared concert stages and dance areas performances will run from 7pm each day until sunrise.

Who will hit the stages? The British gothic rock band The Sisters of Mercy is coming to Bulgaria for a first time, and will open the festival. Asian Dub Foundation, which is considered by some to be the best live band are also up for an “alternative electronic” sound to rock the crowd.

The drum and bass group Pendulum, Pharoahe Monch and the DJ duo Groove Armada are also scheduled to perform, among others.

The ticket sale over the internet begins on July 7. A ticket for one day costs 39 leva, whereas a three-day pass is selling for 99 leva.
