Swiss Baboo mulls more flights to Sofia

Swiss airline Baboo, which started flights to Sofia in June, is already considering raising the number of weekly flights to Bulgaria, chief executive Jacques Bankir said, as quoted by Dnevnik daily on July 1.

Currently, the airline has three weekly flights linking Sofia to Geneva and Nice, all of them on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The flights were introduced on June 16 and will continue until end-October.

The choice of destinations is based on expectations of a sizeable market share, the daily quoted Bankir as saying. The airline is also mulling introducing summer-season charter flights to Bulgaria's two big Black Sea cities of Varna and Bourgas, he added.

Set up in 2003, after Swissair terminated its route between Geneva and Lugano, Baboo has grown rapidly and it now services permanent flights to 11 cities, seasonal flights to four resorts and charter flights to eight more destinations.

Its fleet has three Embraer E190 aircraft with a maximum passenger capacity of 100 people and two Bombardier Dash Q 400 aircraft that can carry up to 74 passengers, according to information on its website.
